About FRE
'If you give a man fish, he will have a single meal. If you teach him how to fish, he will eat all his life'
The Fishing Rod Experience (FRE) is a not-for-profit, social enterprise specialising in personal development and employability training for the young and disadvantaged. FRE empowers people by increasing their awareness of career and life opportunities through engaging courses in the creative arts, business and essential life skills. Facilitated by top industry professionals, FRE courses are fun, innovative and flexible and give participants a springboard to a brighter future. FRE encourages participants at risk and who are not in employment, education or training (NEET), to stay in school or pursue further career development. London-based and expanding throughout the UK, FRE's hands-on courses include movie-making, scriptwriting, animation, sound recording, fashion, business enterprise and culinary arts. FRE partners with public and private organisations, including the London Development Agency, European Social Fund, local education authorities, schools, youth-clubs and private enterprises.
